Panel Discussion “Corruption in Sport: The Topic No One is Eager to Talk About”

The Balkan Center of Science and Innovation (BISI) at the University of Montenegro, in cooperation with PASTECHL and the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro (STP), is organizing a panel discussion entitled “Corruption in Sport: The Topic No One is Eager to Talk About”. The event will take place on 9 November 2026, starting at 10:00 AM, at the Science and Technology Park of Montenegro in Podgorica.

The panel will address one of the most significant yet insufficiently discussed challenges in contemporary sport – corruption, integrity, and accountability in the governance of sports organizations and institutions.

The discussion will explore key issues related to the transparent use of public funds allocated to sport, conflicts of interest, independent oversight, financial control, the protection of athletes’ rights, and mechanisms for safely reporting irregularities. Particular attention will be given to international experiences, existing challenges in Montenegro, and opportunities to improve good governance in sport.

Through the joint organization of this event, BISI, PASTECHL, and STP aim to encourage an open, evidence-based, and constructive dialogue among representatives of academia, sports organizations, civil society, and relevant public institutions. The panel seeks to identify specific challenges and potential solutions that could contribute to strengthening transparency, accountability, and integrity in Montenegrin sport.

The panel discussion will last 60 minutes and will feature introductory remarks by the panelists, a moderated discussion, and a question-and-answer session with the audience.

The list of speakers, detailed agenda, and additional information about the event will be announced soon through the organizers’ official communication channels.

The organizers invite representatives of the academic and sporting communities, public institutions, civil society organizations, the media, and the wider public to attend the event and contribute to an open dialogue on issues of importance for the future of sport in Montenegro.
