The USSI Community Event was held at JU Gymnasium “Stojan Cerović” in Nikšić on 3 June 2026, as one of the local activities within the Erasmus+ project Universal Sports for Social Impact – USSI. The project is focused on promoting positive values through sport, strengthening social inclusion, developing cooperation, and encouraging young people to participate in sport and physical activities.

The event brought together students, teachers, representatives of educational and sport institutions, and representatives of partner organizations from Montenegro. On behalf of the two Montenegrin institutions involved in the implementation of project activities, the participants were addressed by Prof. Dr. Stevo Popović, from the Faculty for Sport and Physical Education of the University of Montenegro, and Mr. Miodrag Zarubica, from the PASTECHL organization. They presented the importance of the USSI project, its objectives and expected results, with a special focus on the potential of sport as a tool for developing positive social values among young people.

On behalf of the Ministry of Regional-Investment Development and Cooperation with Non-Governmental Organizations, Suada Musić addressed the participants and emphasized the importance of supporting projects that connect education, sport, the local community, and the non-governmental sector. The event was also addressed by the Director of Gymnasium “Stojan Cerović”, Dragan Mijušković, who highlighted the importance of involving schools in activities that promote healthy lifestyles, team spirit, and the active participation of students in the community.

A special part of the programme was dedicated to the presentation of adapted models of sport activities, which represent some of the concrete outputs of the USSI project. Physical education teachers Dr. Novica Gardašević and Svetlana Kosić spoke about the models Sports Birthday, Summer Camp, and Family Training, which were developed with the aim of encouraging children, young people, and families to engage more regularly in physical activity through simple, accessible, and applicable sport-based content.

At the end of the event, a draw was held for the upcoming school competitions, further encouraging a competitive atmosphere and motivating students to take part in sport activities. On this occasion, the PASTECHL organization committed to donating trophies and medals for the best classes, as a form of support for school sport and the promotion of positive values among students.
