Natasa Popovic is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Medical Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Montenegro, where she also serves as Vice Dean for International Cooperation. Her academic and research career has been shaped by extensive experience in the United States, where she completed a Master’s degree in Human Nutrition, a PhD in Medical Sciences, and a residency in Family Medicine at Texas A&M University. Over more than a decade at the Texas A&M Health Science Center, she worked as a researcher, postdoctoral fellow, and urgent care physician, focusing on translational research in vascular biology, aging, diabetes, and biomarkers. Upon returning to Montenegro, she dedicated her work to advancing distinctive research directions in the field of aging biomarkers and non-invasive diagnostic methods. She has led and participated in numerous national and international projects, including Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe initiatives. She is the author of numerous highly cited scientific publications and open-access databases, and has been recognized for pioneering digital innovations in medical education in Montenegro. Beyond her academic roles, she is actively engaged in promoting international cooperation and advancing Montenegro’s integration into the European Research Area.
