Sou Hyun Jang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Korea University. She earned her Ph.D. from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York and an M.A. from Columbia University. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Public Health at the University of Washington and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Her interdisciplinary research examines how migration intersects with life course transitions, identity formation, and health disparities, with a particular focus on youth and international students in transnational contexts. Drawing on mixed methods, including qualitative interviews, survey analysis, and big data approaches, her work explores how young migrants navigate complex temporal structures shaped by institutional norms, cultural expectations, and digital environments. Her work has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including Social Science & Medicine, American Journal of Health Behavior, Journal of Immigrant and Minority Health, and Digital Health. She is particularly interested in how migrants and marginalized populations navigate health systems, information flows, and social capital in a globalized and digitized world. Through interdisciplinary research and collaborative partnerships, she aims to produce policy-relevant knowledge that bridges social capital gaps, reduces health inequities, and improves access to timely and accurate information for vulnerable communities. Her work contributes to both academic discourse and practical solutions at the intersection of migration, health, and digital society.
